Word on the Street: Substitutes

Benefits of substitute teaching:

"... you can continue teaching. It gets me out, gives me things to do. I’m retired so it’s nice to get out and be around people." - Ms. Clark

"You see a lot of different classes, and you go take over for different teachers every day, so it really never gets boring." - Mr. Cardillo

Substitutes' take on RMHS as a whole:

"There’s a lot going on here." - Mr. Cardillo

"I’ve been to other school systems, and I found out from being at the other school systems that it’s not run as well as Reading Memorial High School." - Mr. Cardillo

Substitutes' relationships with students:

(Referring to the enjoyment in seeing the growth of students from freshmen to seniors) “especially the ones that act up in the beginning and then mature." - Mrs. Clark

"You get to know all the kids, and kids, when you’re around them, they can invigorate you, but I like it." - Mr. Grant

Downside to substitute teaching:

“The worst thing is getting up at six o’clock in the morning, but once you get to school and you wake up, you’re okay." - Ms. Clark
