Rockets Winter Sports Update

It’s finally that time of year, ladies and gentleman- it’s time to talk winter sports. This week’s focus will be on the boys’ and girls’ hockey teams games versus the Wakefield Warriors on Saturday, December 17th. It’s absolutely no surprise that both of these games were complete blowouts due to the fact that Reading takes no L’s. Furthermore, both teams wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for a few key players.

Girl’s Game: Michaela Boyle, #16, demolished the Warrior’s defense by working with her team to set up plays in the offensive zone with a total of five goals. Kat Paradis, #14, had two goals as well that contributed to the win. Boyle joins the Rocket squad for the first time this year because of her past enrollment at Austin Prep. I spoke to her after the game about what she thinks about being a part of the “Lady Rockets”. “I love being apart of the team”, she said. Boyle further confirmed her excitement about being part of this team for the first time, explaining “The girls have been awesome and the school culture here is insane! I definitely made the right choice coming to play for Reading High, and I’m excited to see where the season takes us. I’m hoping it ends with a win at the TD Garden.”

Final Score- Reading Rockets: 7 and Wakefield Warriors: 4.

Boy’s Game: Jay Gallagher, #9, put on a show, as he displayed how to shoot the puck under pressure; he scored a hat trick by putting defenders in body bags through the neutral zone. I spoke to #29, Kevin Tobin, after the game asking why they may have won the game. “We were much faster than they were, and we had our boys Nick Miele, #22, and Jake Conte, #25, in the back to help out defensively”, Tobin explained.

Final Score: Reading Rockets: 9, Wakefield Warriors: 2.
