Spotlight on Art: Sculpture

Elizabeth Berry

Over the past several months, RMHS students in the art elective, sculpture, have been working on clay boxes. They were each asked to do a study on an organic or man-made object, and develope it in an originally way that expressed a pattern, such as a cluster or spiral.

This project involved a long process that required several sketches, a paper box depicting what the clay box would look like, constructing the clay box, and glazing the final pieces. When all of these steps were completed, all of the students were happy with their individual pieces. Below are a few of the pieces:

Clay box inspired by a bolt, created by junior Elizabeth Berry

Clay box inspired by branches and leaves, created by senior Elizabeth Alexander

Clay box inspired by seashells, created by sophomore Abigail Bacci
